This is my go-to healthy smoothie recipe! For whatever reason, I cannot stand bananas, and it’s hard to find a healthy smoothie recipe without them, but this one is filling full of nutrition without sacrificing taste. It’s just a great-tasting berry smoothie and you won’t even taste the spinach. You’ll feel great about having gotten some greens in, though!
For a PB&J spin on this recipe (as well as an extra boost of protein), add in a tablespoon or two of PB Fit powder before blending. You could also add in some rolled oats or some ground flax seed (great little extra boosts of fiber and protein). If you’re a nursing mom especially, consider one or more of these add-ins to boost your milk’s nutritional value! I love using ground flax seed in my food and smoothies while breastfeeding.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Frozen fruit of choice (I use a triple berry mix)
- Greek yogurt or another yogurt
- Almond milk (or another milk substitute)
- Ground flax seed
- PB Fit Powder
Pour in about 1 cup of frozen fruit, then add a small handful of spinach on top. If you want to use any ground flax seed, oats, or PB Fit, add in 1-2 tablespoons of each. If you’re using a Nutri-bullet or single serve blender like mine, fill to the top with yogurt. Otherwise, add about 1 1/2 cups of yogurt.
Pour 1 1/2 cups of almond milk over the top of everything (you may have to do this slowly to give it a chance to trickle down below the yogurt).
Then blend for 10 to 15 seconds and enjoy! This smoothie usually keeps me full for the entire morning and it tastes awesome. It feels great to start the day off with something reasonably good for me, so I go back to this recipe multiple times a week.
